Russia Launches Soyuz Rocket for Defence Mission

The Russian Aerospace Forces successfully launched a Soyuz-2.1b rocket early Monday, marking a significant step in the country's defence initiatives. The state RIA news agency, citing the Russian Defence Ministry, reported the mission took off from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region.

\"The Aerospace Forces successfully launched the Soyuz-2.1b medium-class launch vehicle with a spacecraft in the interests of the Russian Defence Ministry,\" the ministry stated.

The Soyuz rocket, renowned for its versatility, is utilized for various space missions, including transporting equipment and astronauts to the International Space Station. With nearly 1,700 launches to date, the Soyuz program remains a cornerstone of international space endeavors, as noted by the European Space Agency.

Typically, Soyuz launches dedicated to scientific and exploratory purposes are announced by Russia's Roscosmos space agency.
