The 2024 World Science and Technology Development Forum has officially commenced in Beijing, hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). Under the theme \"Science and Technology for the Future,\" the forum emphasizes building a community with a shared future for humanity, guided by the Global Development, Security, and Civilization Initiatives.
At the opening ceremony, Wan Gang, chairman of the forum and president of CAST, presented four key proposals aimed at enhancing global cooperation in basic research, promoting healthy AI development, fostering young scientific talents, and advancing openness in global science and technology governance.
Over the course of the forum, which will run until October 30, more than 350 guests from 33 countries and regions will engage in six thematic sessions and three roundtable discussions. The event features distinguished participants, including Nobel laureates, heads of international scientific organizations, academicians, and over 200 experts from renowned universities and enterprises.
The forum is not only a platform for high-level scientific discourse but also includes cultural exchange activities, reflecting its commitment to international collaboration and sustainable development.
