Apple’s iPhone 16 Sales Surge 20% in China Amid Fierce Competition

Apple Inc. has kicked off the launch of its latest iPhone 16 series in China with impressive sales growth. According to research firm Counterpoint, Apple’s new iPhones saw a 20% increase in sales during their first three weeks on the market compared to the 2023 models.

The iPhone 16 series, including the Pro and Pro Max models, has been particularly successful. Counterpoint reported a remarkable 44% rise in sales for these top-tier models compared to their 2023 counterparts, highlighting strong consumer demand for premium features and advancements.

This launch coincided with the release of Huawei’s latest Mate and Pura series on September 20, intensifying the competition in China’s largest smartphone market. While Apple is experiencing growth with its new models, overall iPhone sales in China saw a slight decline of 2% year on year during the same period. This decrease is attributed to a drop in sales of older iPhone models and the robust competition from Huawei’s offerings.

Despite the overall dip, the surge in the iPhone 16 series underscores Apple’s ability to maintain a significant presence in a challenging and highly competitive market. As both companies vie for market share, the next few months will be crucial in determining the long-term dynamics of the smartphone landscape in China.
