China Boosts Innovation with 300 New Materials Testing Platforms by 2027

China is ramping up its efforts in materials innovation, unveiling a strategic plan to build over 300 pilot-scale testing platforms by 2027. This ambitious initiative aims to transform laboratory breakthroughs into industrial advancements, fostering growth across various sectors.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, alongside the National Development and Reform Commission, outlined their roadmap during a pivotal policy meeting. The plan focuses on creating a robust system characterized by professional construction, market-oriented operations, and open services.

From 2024 to 2027, the country will establish approximately 300 local new material pilot-scale testing platforms, complemented by around 20 high-level facilities. These platforms will enhance infrastructure, provide technological support, and offer public services to bridge the gap between research and production.

Special emphasis will be placed on developing key generic technologies and materials in industries such as petrochemicals, steel, non-ferrous metals, inorganic nonmetals, and cutting-edge materials. By supporting these critical areas, China aims to solidify its position in the global market.

Additionally, the plan includes accelerating the development of proof-of-concept and pilot-scale testing platforms. Policies will be refined to facilitate the initial application of newly developed equipment, materials, and software, ensuring a seamless integration into industrial processes.

This initiative underscores Chinaโ€™s commitment to innovation and industrial excellence, setting the stage for significant advancements in the materials sector over the next few years.
