The trend of hair loss is striking a younger demographic in China, with more middle and high school students seeking medical advice. Liu Ling, a professor at Tangdu Hospital of Air Force Medical University, observes that hair loss consultations, which were once common among individuals in their 40s, are now increasingly seen in younger age groups.
Liu emphasizes that genetics alone do not account for this shift. \"Stress from school and work plays a significant role,\" she explains. Students engaged in high-intensity mental work, particularly those in demanding fields like medicine, are at a higher risk of experiencing hair loss. She shared a poignant remark from one of her students: \"Despite academic success, my hair is half gone.\"
To combat this issue, Liu recommends that young people adopt healthier lifestyle habits inspired by the wisdom of older generations. By managing stress and promoting overall well-being, Gen Z individuals can mitigate the factors contributing to hair loss.
