The European Union (EU) has taken a bold step by imposing tariffs of up to 45 percent on battery electric vehicles (EVs) manufactured in the Chinese mainland. This decision has ignited significant opposition among various EU member states and shaken the automotive industry.
In response to the EU's move, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade voiced strong opposition on Saturday. They emphasized the importance of resolving the trade differences through dialogue to reach a mutually beneficial solution.
China's Ministry of Commerce also criticized the EU's decision on Friday, labeling it as \"unfair, non-compliant and unreasonable.\" Despite the backlash, the Ministry acknowledged the EU's willingness to continue negotiations.
Looking ahead, technical teams from both China and the EU are set to resume talks on October 7, aiming to navigate the trade tensions and find a path forward that aligns with the interests of both parties.
