Smart Green Technologies Shine at China-ASEAN Expo

The China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning City is buzzing with the latest in smart and green technologies, showcasing innovations that are reshaping the construction and mining industries across Southeast Asia.

One standout at the expo is the intelligent loader developed by China's Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. This remote-controlled mechanical loader can handle tonnes of materials and transport them to production lines without the need for a driver, gaining significant traction among mining and construction companies in ASEAN countries.

\"Catering to demands for high-end, diversified and personalized products in the construction machinery market, LiuGong has focused on the electrification, digitization, interconnectivity and intelligence of machinery, with double-digit annual growth in R&D investment,\" said Li Dongchun, a senior manager at LiuGong.

At the expo, LiuGong is showcasing eight electric products, including loaders, excavators, and forklifts, responding to the growing interest in Chinese-made smart and green products among ASEAN nations. This aligns with the steady expansion of China-ASEAN trade, which has grown from 876.4 billion yuan in 2004 to 6.41 trillion yuan in 2023, maintaining an average annual growth rate of 11 percent.

As China accelerates its efforts to develop tech-intensive and environmentally friendly growth engines, smart and green products are attracting both exhibitors and visitors. A signing ceremony on Tuesday at the expo resulted in 109 deals across strategic emerging sectors such as new energy, advanced manufacturing, and electronic information.

Kao Kim Hourn, secretary-general of ASEAN, emphasized the exploration of new cooperation opportunities in artificial intelligence and clean energy, highlighting the shared commitment to innovation and sustainable development between China and ASEAN countries.
