Electric aviation is taking flight in China as the RX1E-A, a two-seater electric aircraft, completed its first flight on Monday at Badaling Airport near the iconic Great Wall of China, located in Beijing's Yanqing District.
“This innovative aircraft is not only a step forward for general aviation but also opens up new opportunities for pilot training and immersive flight experiences for the public,” said Wang Mingyang, an expert in general aviation innovation research with the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.
The RX1E-A is designed to carry out general aviation flights, offering both aspiring pilots and enthusiasts the chance to engage with cutting-edge electric aviation technology. Wang highlighted that launching these operations in Yanqing will bring advanced aviation equipment to the region and stimulate low-altitude economic activities.
This development marks a significant milestone in China's push towards sustainable aviation, aligning with global trends in green technology and innovation.
