A significant number of Android users worldwide experienced crashes with Google's Search app from late Saturday to early Sunday, according to the tech giant.
Over 7,000 problem reports were recorded on downdetector.com, with many users sharing screenshots displaying the error message \"Google keeps stopping\" on their devices.
While Google Search has been stabilizing, the team is still actively working on a comprehensive fix, as indicated on the product's status dashboard.
The service disruption began around 11 p.m. Pacific Time (0600 GMT), and Google advises affected users to clear the cache and data for the Google app on their phones.
Other Google services and platforms remain unaffected by the issue. As of 4 p.m. Beijing Time (0800 GMT) on Sunday, accessing Google Search via browsers like Chrome and Firefox was still operational across all mainstream platforms.
Users can also consider alternative search engines such as Bing, Yahoo, Baidu, Yandex, and DuckDuckGo for their search needs during the outage.
