China Unveils Ambitious Plan to Boost Mobile IoT for Smart Connectivity

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has unveiled a forward-thinking plan to accelerate the development of mobile Internet of Things (IoT) under the banner of \"Intelligent Connectivity.\" This ambitious initiative aims to enhance the supply chain, foster innovation, and increase the industrial value of the mobile IoT sector.

The plan highlights the application of mobile IoT across various fields, including intelligent connected vehicles, healthcare, and smart homes. In the realm of intelligent vehicles, the focus is on integrating IoT in features such as driving monitoring and autonomous driving, enabling efficient information exchange, complex environment perception, and intelligent decision-making.

Looking ahead to 2027, China aspires to significantly improve its mobile IoT ecosystem, targeting over 3.6 billion mobile IoT terminal connections. The plan also envisions the establishment of more than five mobile IoT industrial clusters and over ten industry demonstration bases by this target year.

Central to this strategy are four key tasks: strengthening the foundational IoT network, enhancing industrial innovation capacity, boosting the integrated application of smart technologies, and fostering a favorable development environment. Additionally, the ministry aims to accelerate the integration of mobile IoT with key industries to support their digital transformation and drive new industrialization.

As of July this year, mobile IoT connections in China approached 2.55 billion, making up 59% of the country's total mobile terminal connections, according to official data.

This strategic push underscores China's commitment to leading the global mobile IoT landscape, positioning itself at the forefront of smart technology integration across various sectors.
