China and African Nations Unite to Drive Modernization and Sustainability

In a significant move towards mutual growth, China and African nations have pledged to collaboratively advance their modernization efforts. The high-level meeting of the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, held on Thursday, highlighted commitments to industrial and agricultural modernization.

The summit was co-chaired by Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Peopleโ€™s Political Consultative Conference, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Wang emphasized the importance of adhering to unique paths of industrialization and agricultural modernization tailored to each nation's specific conditions, advocating for fair and equitable global governance.

China expressed its readiness to continue fostering industry cooperation growth clusters, enhancing connectivity, and strengthening industrial and supply chain collaborations with African countries. Additionally, China is prepared to enter into framework agreements on economic partnerships, aiming to build a model for the Global Development Initiative.

The commitment extends to contributing to poverty reduction, job creation, income generation, and improving livelihoods across Africa. China also plans to provide new energy technologies and products, support Africa's energy transition, and enhance environmental sustainability and climate resilience on the continent.

African leaders lauded the progress made through Africa-China cooperation in industrialization, agricultural modernization, and green development. They expressed enthusiasm for exploring paths of modernization with national characteristics and leading the modernization process in the Global South.
