China Champions Global AI Cooperation and Support for Developing Nations

China has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing artificial intelligence (AI) development and fostering global cooperation. Speaking at the inaugural Seminar on Capacity Building of Artificial Intelligence in Shanghai, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized that AI is driving a new wave of scientific and technological innovation and industrial transformation.

Mao highlighted China's dedication to providing global public goods, such as AI support and capacity building, particularly for developing countries. This initiative aims to ensure that nations in the Global South are actively involved in shaping global AI governance and reap the benefits of AI advancements.

During this year's UN General Assembly, China submitted a draft resolution titled \"Enhancing International Cooperation on Capacity-building of Artificial Intelligence,\" which garnered unanimous adoption and was co-sponsored by 143 countries. Building on this momentum, China, in partnership with the UN, is hosting the Seminar on Capacity Building of Artificial Intelligence from September 3 to 6 in Shanghai. The event will feature representatives from nearly 40 countries, with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres attending the opening ceremony.

The seminar seeks to bridge the AI divide by providing Global South participants with insights into current AI trends and developments through expert lectures, interactive exchanges, and site visits. Mao Ning assured that China will continue to support developing countries' growth and promote the use of AI for the benefit of all humanity.
