World Power Battery Conference Sees $13.4B Investment Boost in Green Energy Sector

The 2024 World Power Battery Conference kickstarted this Sunday in the vibrant city of Yibin, nestled in China's Sichuan Province, marking a significant milestone for the global green energy sector.

A staggering total of 137 projects, collectively valued at approximately $13.4 billion, were inked during the event, underscoring the burgeoning interest and investment in the power battery industry. The conference drew nearly 400 industry experts and company executives from around the world, highlighting its status as a pivotal international cooperation platform.

Organized by the Sichuan provincial government, the conference aims to foster high-quality development within green and low-carbon industries, aligning with global sustainability goals. Over the years, China has established a comprehensive industrial chain within the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector, capitalizing on the industry's rapid growth.

Of the signed projects, 133, amounting to 84.55 billion yuan, are set to be developed in Yibin alone. The Yibin municipal department for economic cooperation and new industries anticipates that these initiatives will generate an annual output exceeding 100 billion yuan and create over 20,000 jobs once fully operational.

This year's conference continues the momentum from its inception in 2022. In the previous two sessions, more than 100 projects with a total contracted investment surpassing 200 billion yuan were signed, further cementing the event's role in driving forward the power battery and NEV industries.
