The Chinese mainland's Ministry of Public Security has issued 16,000 test licenses for autonomous vehicles, signaling a significant push towards self-driving technology.
In a press conference held in Beijing on Tuesday, the ministry also announced that 32,000 kilometers of roads across the nation are now open for autonomous vehicle testing.
\"These initiatives have provided strong support for the advancement of autonomous driving technology in the Chinese mainland,\" stated Wang Qiang, a senior official from the ministry.
Wang emphasized that the ministry has worked closely with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Transport to enhance management and support for the autonomous driving industry.
