Collaborative Effort Begins: China and Uzbekistan Tackle Aral Sea’s Ecological Crisis

A significant step towards environmental restoration has been taken as China and Uzbekistan kick off a joint scientific expedition aimed at addressing the ecological crisis of the Aral Sea. Launched in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the expedition focuses on promoting green innovation and fostering cooperation in the region.

Abdukhakimov Aziz Abdukaxarovich, Uzbekistan's Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for their unwavering support in scientific collaboration between the two nations. He emphasized that the expedition not only holds immense scientific value but also plays a crucial role in the future development of the Aral Sea region and the well-being of its local residents.

Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Yu Jun, highlighted the importance of ecological protection and restoration efforts in the Aral Sea region as a vital aspect of the practical cooperation between China and Uzbekistan, as well as between China and Central Asia. Ambassador Yu noted that these efforts have been consistently included in bilateral and multilateral agreements, reflecting a consensus at the highest levels of leadership.

The joint expedition is set to establish a robust research foundation for the comprehensive management of the Aral Sea, aiming to revive the region's ecosystem and improve the lives of those who depend on it. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both nations to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
