Chinese Mainland's Bohai Sea Mega Gas Project Hits 1 Billion Cubic Meters

A significant milestone has been reached in the Chinese mainland's energy sector as the Bohai Sea mega gas project has successfully produced over 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Announced by the country's oil and gas giant China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the Bozhong 19-6 Condensate Gas Field has been operational since November 2023.

Situated in the heart of the Bohai Sea, the gas field boasts explored reserves exceeding 200 billion cubic meters of natural gas and over 200 million cubic meters of condensate oil. Currently, six offshore oil and gas platforms have been established to harness these resources efficiently.

The production from the Bozhong 19-6 Condensate Gas Field plays a crucial role in providing a stable and reliable supply of clean energy to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the broader Bohai Rim area.

Jiang An, general manager of a subsidiary of CNOOC's Tianjin branch, highlighted the project's success to China Media Group (CMG), stating that the peak daily production of natural gas has reached 2.4 million cubic meters. He emphasized that this achievement is pivotal for the safe and efficient development of other gas fields in the region.

\"The phase II development project of the gas field is being launched. These projects lay a solid foundation for development of large-scale oil and gas resources in the ultra-deep area of the Bohai Sea,\" said Zhang Chunsheng, deputy general manager of CNOOC Tianjin branch, in an interview with CMG.
