China Tops Global Industrial Robot Market for 11th Year

China has sustained its position as the world’s largest market for industrial robots for the 11th consecutive year, announced Vice Minister Xin Guobin from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) at the ongoing 2024 World Robot Conference in Beijing.

In 2023, China produced 430,000 sets of industrial robots, and over the past three years, the nation's newly added robot installations have comprised more than half of the global market, according to Xin. This remarkable achievement underscores China’s pivotal role in advancing the global robotics industry.

After a decade of swift development, China has become a major catalyst for growth in the robotics sector worldwide. Xin highlighted significant advancements in innovation, particularly in bionic perception, cognition, planning, and control technologies. As of July 2024, China holds over 190,000 effective robot-related patents, representing roughly two-thirds of the global total.

The implementation of the \"Robot plus Application\" initiative is accelerating the integration of robots across various industries. Over the past ten years, the number of robots per 10,000 workers in China’s manufacturing sector has surged from 49 to 470, demonstrating the profound impact of robotics on manufacturing efficiency and productivity.

The five-day conference in Beijing has attracted 169 enterprises from around the globe, including industry giants like Tesla and Siasun. These companies are showcasing more than 600 robot units, with over 60 making their world debuts, highlighting the ongoing innovation and expansion within the robotics field.
