China's high-tech prowess took center stage at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where innovative solutions enhanced every aspect of the event. From beloved mascots to cutting-edge sportswear and advanced display technologies, China's contributions left a lasting impression on athletes and spectators alike.
The festive spirit was embodied by the Olympic Phryge mascots, 80 percent of which were meticulously crafted in China by Quanzhou Nanyang Arts & Crafts Co., Ltd. \"Phryge is known for its unique standing posture, with its slender legs supporting a large body, making it a challenging design in the production process,\" explained Jiang Lingyan, senior sales manager of the company. To ensure durability during international transport, the design team innovatively combined rigid and soft polyvinyl chloride (PVC) materials, using 3D modeling and printing techniques for precision and vibrant details.
China's influence extended to the athletes themselves, with sportswear giant Peak collaborating with Olympic committees from 11 countries to provide high-quality apparel. Xu Jingnan, chairman of PEAK, stated, \"By working with these Olympic committees, we showcase China's high-quality products, along with our unique understanding and innovative capabilities in sports equipment.\"
Another major player, ANTA, supplied eco-friendly team uniforms for Chinese athletes during medal ceremonies. Utilizing recycled nylon and polyester, ANTA achieved a carbon reduction of over 50 percent. Zheng Zhiyi, chief scientist of ANTA Sports Science Lab, highlighted their commitment to innovation: \"We set up a laboratory that has three tracks to simulate different running environments, employing technologies like foot scanners and a 3D motion capture system to customize shoes for athletes.\"
Beyond apparel, China's technological advancements were on full display with drones forming intricate shapes in the sky and over 50 LED screens providing live streaming services around Paris. Zhao Kai, vice president of LED screen provider Absen, emphasized the eco-friendly nature of their displays: \"Our screens offer high stability and energy efficiency, cutting energy consumption by 20 percent compared to traditional screens.\"
From mascots to sportswear and display technologies, China's high-tech innovations not only supported the Paris Olympics but also set new standards for future global events.
