Global Airlines Halt Flights to Israel Amid Rising Security Concerns

In response to escalating tensions in the region, several major global airlines have temporarily suspended their flights to Israel. Notable carriers such as United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, British Airways, and Lufthansa have taken immediate action to ensure the safety of their passengers and crew.

Delta Air Lines announced that its flights to Israel will remain suspended until August 2, citing the ongoing conflict as the primary reason. United Airlines has also ceased operations to Israel, though specific dates have not been provided. Both airlines, which operate routes between New York and Tel Aviv, are closely monitoring the situation to decide on future steps.

German carrier Lufthansa, along with Austrian Airlines, has redirected their flights from Munich and Vienna to Tel Aviv to Cyprus and Bulgaria. The Lufthansa Group, including its unit Swiss International Air Lines, has canceled all passenger and cargo flights to and from Tel Aviv effective immediately through August 8. Additionally, flights to Beirut have been halted until August 12.

\"The reason for this is the current development in the region,\" a Lufthansa spokesperson stated, emphasizing that passenger and crew safety remains the airline's top priority. Swiss International announced the suspension of its Zurich to Tel Aviv flights through August 8 and to Beirut through August 12.

Despite these suspensions, Israel's Civil Aviation Authority head, Shmuel Zakai, assured the public of the safety of flights to and from the country. In an interview, Zakai highlighted that on Thursday alone, nearly 70,000 passengers traveled on approximately 60 airlines to and from Israel, underscoring the robustness of the aviation sector even amidst regional uncertainties.

As the situation evolves, passengers are advised to stay informed and consult their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules and safety measures.
