China's online environment has witnessed significant advancements as the country intensifies its efforts to enhance cyberspace governance. An official from China's top internet watchdog, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), announced at a press conference on Monday that more than 57.45 million pieces of content containing illegal or inappropriate information were removed or blocked over the past year.
In addition to content removal, the CAC has shut down over 4,800 websites and platforms within the same timeframe. These actions have contributed to a continuous improvement in the online landscape, fostering a safer and more regulated digital space for users.
Yang Jianwen, deputy director of the CAC, emphasized that the administration has been reviewing its previous initiatives to better assess outcomes and consolidate achievements. Moving forward, the CAC plans to ramp up efforts in strengthening early warning systems and prevention strategies, with a particular focus on addressing public concerns.
These measures reflect China's commitment to creating a more secure and orderly cyberspace, aligning with global trends in digital governance and internet safety.
