China-South Asia Expo Concludes with $112M in Trade Deals

The eighth China-South Asia Expo wrapped up on Sunday in Kunming, Yunnan Province, marking a significant milestone with over 8 billion yuan (approximately $112 million) in trade contracts signed by both domestic and foreign businesses.

This year's expo attracted participation from 82 countries, regions, and international organizations, showcasing more than 2,000 exhibiting companies. Notably, nearly half of these companies were overseas, representing all nations within South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Held in the vibrant capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, the event also saw impressive online and offline sales exceeding 500 million yuan. Since its inception in 2013, coinciding with China's Belt and Road Initiative, the expo has facilitated trade for over 18,000 domestic and foreign companies, promoting more than $100 billion in trade and enabling the signing of upwards of 3,000 projects.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Yunnan provincial government, the China-South Asia Expo stands as one of the yearโ€™s most pivotal events for fostering economic and trade exchanges between China and South Asian countries. The success of the latest expo underscores the robust economic ties and the continuous growth of international trade partnerships within the region.
