Chinese Mainland’s Latest Cruise Ship Nears Completion: Bigger, Greener, Better

The Chinese mainland's second domestically built large cruise ship is making waves as it approaches completion after more than three months of meticulous assembly. The impressive three-layer platform structure is now fully formed, signaling that the project is 80 percent complete.

Since entering the dock in April, the shipbuilder has successfully docked a total of 28 sections and 26 subsections. Currently, structural welding and equipment installation are in full swing, bringing the ship closer to its maiden voyage.

Compared to its predecessor, this new cruise ship boasts significant enhancements. It features a larger gross tonnage of 141,900 tonnes—6,400 tonnes more than the first ship—and stretches 341 meters in length, an increase of 17.4 meters. Additionally, the number of cabins has risen by 19, totaling 2,144 to accommodate more passengers.

In a commitment to environmental sustainability, the cruise ship is equipped with two sets of desulfurization systems and five sets of advanced environmental protection systems, ensuring a greener journey for all onboard.
