The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) has announced a two-month nationwide campaign aimed at creating a safer online environment for minors during the summer vacation.
The initiative will address significant issues on short video and live-streaming platforms, where content featuring violence, bullying, or child abuse can negatively impact young users.
Social media and e-commerce platforms are also under scrutiny for distributing inappropriate content, including illegal websites, vulgar language, and pornography targeted at minors, according to the CAC.
Other focus areas include application stores, smart devices designed for children, and the \"minor mode\" settings of smartphone applications.
Local cyberspace administrations are tasked with closely monitoring new features and emerging issues related to minors online, and are expected to take a firm stance against any rule violations, a CAC official stated.
