A premier international academic event on basic science commenced in Beijing on Sunday, attracting some of the world’s foremost mathematicians, physicists, and computer scientists.
Under the theme \"Advancing Science for Humanity,\" the 2024 International Congress of Basic Science (ICBS) launched at Tsinghua University.
Scheduled to run until July 26, the congress will host over 800 experts from around the globe who will engage in discussions spanning mathematics, theoretical physics, and theoretical computer and information sciences. The objective is to share groundbreaking achievements and envision future research directions.
The event has garnered participation from winners of internationally renowned scientific awards, over 70 academicians from various countries, and more than 10 presidents of domestic universities. The opening ceremony saw an attendance of over 300 individuals, including representatives from numerous international academic organizations and experts from domestic universities and institutions.
In addition to the discussions and presentations, the congress will present the Life Award and the Frontier Science Award to honor scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the field of basic science.
