The Fengyun-3F satellite, launched on August 3, 2023, has recently entered operational service, taking over the in-orbit duties of the Fengyun-3C satellite. Equipped with ten advanced instruments, Fengyun-3F conducts full-spectrum, high-spectral, and quantitative observations, significantly enhancing the precision of monitoring global atmospheric and environmental conditions. These capabilities include detailed observations of atmospheric temperature, humidity profiles, trace gases, and Earth’s radiation balance.
China’s Fengyun meteorological satellites play a crucial role in weather forecasting, climate prediction, natural disaster and environmental monitoring, scientific research, and various industries such as meteorology, oceanography, agriculture, forestry, water conservancy, transportation, aviation, and aerospace. As a series of meteorological remote sensing satellites independently developed by China, the Fengyun program has achieved significant milestones since its inception.
Since the launch of the first Fengyun satellite in 1988, China has successfully deployed a total of 21 Fengyun meteorological satellites, with nine currently operational in orbit. These satellites provide essential data and products to 129 countries and regions, as reported by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA).
On November 13, 2023, the international version of the \"Fengyun Earth\" app was officially released, further expanding access to vital meteorological data. Since 2023, Fengyun meteorological satellites have responded to 28 international requests for emergency support services, observing tropical cyclones \"Lola\" and \"Mocha\" and providing meteorological support to countries such as the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and Bangladesh. Additionally, they have assisted in monitoring intense fire spots from the northern coastal regions of Algeria to the northwestern regions of Tunisia, supporting local efforts in fire prevention and control.
