The Fengyun-3F meteorological satellite has officially begun its operational service as of Monday, announced by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA). This satellite is the seventh in the Fengyun-3 series and the third sun-synchronous morning orbit satellite of the Fengyun constellation.
Launched on August 3, 2023, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China, Fengyun-3F underwent in-orbit testing starting October 23 of the same year. Now fully operational, the satellite is equipped with 10 advanced instruments that provide full-spectrum, quantitative observations.
Fengyun-3F not only monitors the global atmosphere and surface environment but also significantly enhances the accuracy of other observation benchmarks, including the Earth's radiation balance. These capabilities are essential for improving weather forecasting, climate research, and environmental monitoring worldwide.
