A Dutch auto dealer is showing strong optimism about the future of Chinese new energy vehicles (NEVs) in the European market. Kjeld Riegen, head of China's NEV brand Voyah at Gomes Noord, expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Voyah, a high-end division of Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
During an interview with Xinhua on the opening day of Voyah's first Netherlands store last week, Riegen highlighted the advanced technology and reliability of Chinese NEVs. He emphasized their cost-effectiveness and appeal to European consumers, stating, \"The general picture of Voyah in the Netherlands is looking good.\" Gomes Noord plans to expand by opening three more Voyah stores in the Netherlands and entering the Belgian market in September.
Gomes Noord, which also represents Germany's luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz, has strategically divided its new showroom to showcase both Voyah and Mercedes-Benz vehicles side by side. The store opening featured several Dongfeng Motor NEV models, including the Voyah concept car i-Cozy, Mhero 1, Dongfeng Box, and Dongfeng 007.
Riegen assured that extensive testing has been conducted to ensure the quality of Voyah vehicles, stating, \"We have the utmost trust in the quality of Dongfeng products.\" His recent trip to China, including attending a global Dongfeng Motor event and visiting the Beijing auto show, left him impressed with the advancements in autonomous driving and electrified traffic solutions.
The rapid technological progress of Chinese brands, particularly in autonomous driving systems, has bolstered Riegen's confidence in the growing popularity of Chinese NEVs in Europe. He praised the high level of technology, reliability, battery capacity, luxurious feel, and affordability of these vehicles, believing they are suitable for most European countries.
Riegen is a strong advocate for the future of NEVs and intelligent mobility. He remarked, \"The Netherlands is leading in adapting to new mobility trends, and I believe we have a bright future ahead with smart mobility and autonomous driving.\" Sharing his personal experience, he added, \"I really love the Voyah Free. It drives tremendously, with great power and all options.\" He also praised the Mhero and Dongfeng Box models for their impressive performance and quality.
