Apple Rejects Meta’s AI Chatbot Integration, Opts for ChatGPT

Apple has turned down Meta Platforms' proposal to integrate Meta's Llama AI chatbot into the iPhone, Bloomberg News reports. The rejection, which occurred months ago, was based on concerns over Meta's privacy practices, deemed insufficient by Apple. According to the report, formal discussions between the two tech giants did not materialize, with only brief talks taking place in March. Around the same time, Apple began negotiating with OpenAI for ChatGPT and Alphabet for Gemini to incorporate AI technologies into its devices.

In June, during its annual developer conference, Apple unveiled its comprehensive AI strategy, highlighting the integration of ChatGPT into its devices and the enhancement of its virtual assistant, Siri, with Apple Intelligence across various apps. This strategic move underscores Apple's commitment to delivering advanced AI features while maintaining stringent privacy standards.

Neither Apple nor Meta responded to Reuters' requests for comments. The Wall Street Journal was the first to break the news of the talks between the companies on Sunday.
