Travelers between Beijing, Shanghai, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) can now enjoy a faster and more convenient journey thanks to the launch of high-speed sleeper trains. Commencing operations on Saturday, these new services significantly reduce travel times, making overnight trips a reality.
The innovative sleeper trains cut the journey from Beijing to Hong Kong to just 12 hours and 34 minutes, down from the previous 24 hours and 31 minutes. Similarly, the Shanghai to Hong Kong route now takes only 11 hours and 14 minutes, halving the time from the earlier 19 hours and 34 minutes.
Previously, long-haul trains from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Beijing West Railway Station and Shanghai Hongqiao Station operated exclusively during the daytime. With the introduction of sleeper trains, passengers can now take advantage of the \"sleep and arrive\" concept, traveling overnight and arriving at their destination the following morning.
The new service offers departures every Friday to Monday night, providing a flexible and convenient travel option for both business and leisure travelers. By utilizing nighttime hours, passengers can maximize their daytime activities and enjoy a restful journey.
This development not only enhances connectivity between major cities but also supports sustainable travel by reducing the reliance on air travel. As high-speed sleeper trains become a popular choice, they are set to transform the way people travel across the Chinese mainland and the HKSAR.
