China-Europe Freight Trains Achieve Record High Transport Volume in May

In a remarkable achievement, China-Europe freight train services reached their highest monthly transport volume in May, as reported by the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. The number of freight train trips surged by 14% year-on-year, totaling 1,724 journeys.

Cargo transport saw a significant increase as well, with approximately 186,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of goods moved, marking a 13% rise compared to the previous year. This milestone underscores the growing efficiency and reliability of rail logistics between China and Europe.

China Railway has been proactive in enhancing its railway logistics system since the beginning of the year. Efforts have included accelerating the construction of modern infrastructure, meticulously organizing cargo transportation, and continuously improving both freight transport capacity and service quality.

May's achievements are part of a broader trend, with national railways transporting a total of 337 million tonnes of goods during the month, reflecting a 2.8% year-on-year increase. These developments highlight the pivotal role of rail transport in facilitating international trade and economic growth.
