The construction of China's first universal launch site for liquid fuel rockets was officially completed in Wenchang City, the southern island province of Hainan, on Thursday.
The new launchpad, designated as No. 2 at the Hainan commercial spacecraft launch site, features an innovative rapid launch mode that significantly enhances launch efficiency and reduces preparation time.
Designed to accommodate over 10 rocket models, including Long March, Kuaizhou, and Jielong from various developers, this launchpad represents a major technological advancement for the center.
Construction of the No.2 launchpad began on October 30, 2022. Its completion marks a crucial milestone, allowing the center to enter the full-system joint training phase for its inaugural rocket launch mission.
\"We will probably train with a real Long March-12 rocket on the No. 2 launchpad,\" said Yang Tianliang, president of Hainan International Commercial Aerospace Launch Co., Ltd. \"We want to make sure that all potential problems are solved before the commercial launches.\"
