The Chinese mainland has announced new export controls targeting specific components and technologies within the aviation and aerospace sectors, effective from July 1.
According to a circular jointly released by the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), the General Administration of Customs, and the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission, the restrictions aim to safeguard national security and comply with non-proliferation and other international obligations.
The controlled items include equipment, software, and technologies related to aviation and aerospace structural parts, engine manufacturing, gas turbine engine manufacturing, helmet visors of spacesuits, and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber.
An MOC spokesperson stated, \"It is an international practice to implement export controls on specific molds, special fiber materials and other related items.\" The spokesperson emphasized that the policies are not directed at any particular country or region and that exports adhering to the regulations will be approved.
The statement further highlighted that the Chinese government is committed to protecting world peace, ensuring the stability of neighboring regions, safeguarding the security of global industrial and supply chains, and promoting trade development in alignment with relevant regulations. However, it also noted that the government opposes any use of controlled items to undermine China's national sovereignty, security, and development.
