Shenzhou-18 Crew Completes Historic 8.5-Hour Spacewalk, Sets New Chinese Record

In a remarkable achievement, the Shenzhou-18 crew aboard China's orbiting space station successfully completed their first extravehicular activity (EVA) on Tuesday at 6:58 p.m., setting a new record for the longest single spacewalk by Chinese astronauts.

During the approximately 8.5-hour mission, taikonauts Ye Guangfu, Li Cong, and Li Guangsu worked collaboratively to install space debris protection devices and conduct thorough inspections of the station's extravehicular equipment and facilities. Their coordinated efforts were supported by the space station's robotic arm and a dedicated team of ground-based personnel.

The successful completion of this spacewalk not only marks a significant milestone for the Shenzhou-18 mission but also showcases China's advancing capabilities in space exploration. Following their mission, Ye Guangfu and Li Guangsu safely returned to the Wentian lab module, concluding a highly productive EVA.
