China is emerging as a pivotal player in the global green transition, with its advanced technologies set to accelerate Europe's sustainable efforts, according to Italian international relations expert Siliva Menegazzi.
Professor Menegazzi, from LUISS University and a founding partner of the Center for Studies of Contemporary China, highlighted China's substantial investments in electric vehicles, solar panels, and lithium batteries. \"China has made great investments in areas of electric vehicles, solar panels, and lithium batteries for many years and as a result, they're in a leading position,\" he explained during an interview with Xinhua.
Menegazzi emphasized that China's leading position means that countries aiming to expedite their green transitions are likely to import Chinese technologies. \"Countries seeking to accelerate their green transitions would certainly import China's technologies,\" he stated.
He pointed out that developing green energy-related sectors not only fuels global competition but also fosters international cooperation. \"It is also a sector that can strengthen global cooperation, especially because they are sectors that can improve global environmental governance,\" Menegazzi added.
While some nations are focusing on developing their own domestic industries, Menegazzi noted that relying on Chinese technologies could expedite the green transition process. \"If they want to make the green transition quickly, the technologies from China will play a role,\" he concluded.
