In a remarkable advancement for disability support, nearly 90% of hearing-impaired children in China are now using cochlear implants. This breakthrough allows them to hear, speak, and attend regular kindergartens and schools, according to a recent press conference held by the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF).
The success of this initiative is rooted in China's comprehensive plan for key research and development in disability rehabilitation, barrier-free environment development, and assistive technology. Over the past five years, the federation has spearheaded more than 300 research projects aimed at promoting the development and application of assistive technologies.
Collaboration has been a cornerstone of this achievement. The CDPF has organized and implemented seven major projects with the participation of 25 universities, 16 research institutes, and 24 enterprises. This collective effort has fostered innovation and accelerated the integration of cutting-edge technologies into practical solutions.
