China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) has achieved a significant milestone in the transportation sector by developing the nation's first 100-kilogram vehicle-mounted liquid hydrogen system. This breakthrough promises to revolutionize hydrogen-powered heavy trucks, offering an extended range and enhanced efficiency.
The newly developed system, a core component of liquid hydrogen heavy trucks, is fully domestically produced, marking China's strides in self-reliant technological advancements. With a capacity to carry up to 100 kilograms of hydrogen, the system enables heavy trucks to travel over 1,000 kilometers on a single charge, significantly improving operational capabilities.
Compared to its predecessor, the new liquid hydrogen system boasts a 20-percent increase in effective volume without expanding its overall dimensions. Additionally, it reduces production costs by more than 30 percent, making hydrogen-powered transportation more economically viable.
An expert from CASC highlighted that the system meets international standards for quality, hydrogen storage density, and refueling time, positioning China competitively in the global green transportation landscape.
