China has unveiled its latest advancement in sustainable maritime technology with the introduction of the Haiyang Shiyou 302, a 12,000-cubic-meter liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport refueling vessel. The vessel was officially put into service in Qidong City, located in east China's Jiangsu Province, on Sunday.
Stretching 132.9 meters in length, the Haiyang Shiyou 302 boasts a deck larger than a standard football pitch, enabling it to supply natural gas to approximately 480,000 households for an entire month. This impressive capacity underscores China's commitment to enhancing energy distribution and supporting large-scale consumption.
Equipped with an electric power system, the vessel is designed for versatile navigation across both rivers and seas. It features two tanks exceeding 20 meters in height and a folding mast, which allows the vessel to maneuver seamlessly under bridges along the Yangtze River. These design elements highlight the vessel's adaptability and efficiency in diverse maritime environments.
Huang Guoliang, deputy chief engineer of the oil production service branch at CNOOC Energy Development Co., Ltd., shared insights with China Media Group, stating, \"The vessel will enhance the service capacity and competitiveness of ports in China.\" He further emphasized that the Haiyang Shiyou 302 is poised to provide convenient LNG replenishment for a significant number of foreign cargo and merchant ships operating in Chinese waters, thereby promoting the green development of the global shipping industry.
With the Haiyang Shiyou 302, China reinforces its position as a leader in sustainable energy solutions, paving the way for a greener future in international maritime operations.
