China’s Chang’e-6 Lunar Probe Set to Launch in Early May

China is gearing up to launch its Chang'e-6 lunar probe in early May, marking a significant milestone in space exploration. The probe, along with the Long March-5 Y8 carrier rocket, has been transferred to the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Hainan.

Before the scheduled launch, comprehensive functional checks, joint tests, and propellant filling will be conducted to ensure a smooth mission. Since arriving at the launch site in January and March respectively, the assembly and testing phases have been successfully completed.

The Chang'e-6 mission aims to collect samples from the far side of the moon, a groundbreaking endeavor in human history. Following this, the Chang'e-7 and Chang'e-8 missions are planned for 2026 and 2028 respectively, which will lay the groundwork for a permanent lunar research station and further explore the moon's environment.
