PLA Navy Celebrates 75 Years: Milestones on Path to World-Class Force

April 23 marks the 75th founding anniversary of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy, a milestone showcasing its evolution into a formidable strategic force. Over the decades, the PLA Navy has grown to encompass five distinct services, equipped with both nuclear and conventional weapons, aligning with its ambition to become a world-class navy.

Since commissioning China's first aircraft carrier, Liaoning, in 2012, the PLA Navy has made significant strides in expanding its carrier fleet. This journey includes upgrading from initial designs, undertaking domestic design and manufacturing initiatives, transitioning from ski-jump to catapult systems, and entering the era of deploying three aircraft carriers.

These advancements reflect China's commitment to enhancing its maritime capabilities, positioning the PLA Navy as a key player in global naval dynamics.
