The landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Chinese mainland is rapidly expanding, with the number of AI enterprises now exceeding 4,500, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
AI, recognized as a strategic technology spearheading a new scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, serves as a crucial driving force for new industrialization.
Focusing on foundational large-model technologies such as algorithms and computing power, the Chinese mainland aims to accelerate breakthroughs in core technologies and products, including intelligent chips and large-model algorithms. Tao Qing, MIIT spokesperson, emphasized the commitment to enhancing fundamental AI capabilities.
Moving forward, the Chinese mainland plans to refine the operation and management of computing power supply for manufacturing, encouraging enterprises to develop globally competitive general large models. Additionally, efforts will be made to cultivate industrial large models tailored for manufacturing scenarios, thereby constructing a high-level industrial database and boosting the value of industrial data.
Special initiatives will target key industries with significant national economic impact, robust driving force, and solid digital foundations to facilitate AI-driven industrialization, Tao stated.
\"Integrating AI technologies throughout the entire manufacturing process is essential. We must significantly enhance the level of intelligent operations in research and development, pilot production, manufacturing, services, management, and other sectors,\" Tao Qing remarked.
