Russia is set to significantly boost its presence in space this year, with plans to launch over 100 spacecraft by the end of 2024, as reported by local media on Friday. This move aims to expand the country's orbital constellation, which currently comprises more than 240 spacecraft.
According to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, over 20 spacecraft have already been launched in 2024 to enhance the domestic orbital constellation. By the year's end, a total of 123 spacecraft, including 70 small satellites, are expected to be launched.
Earlier, Yury Borisov, head of Russia's state space corporation Roscosmos, announced plans for over 40 space launches in 2024. These ambitious efforts underscore Russia's commitment to advancing its space capabilities and maintaining its position in the global aerospace industry.
