Breaking into the electric vehicle market, Xiaomi, the world’s third-largest smartphone maker, has launched its highly anticipated Speed Ultra 7 (SU7) series. This feature-packed EV is redefining connectivity and driving experiences, earning over 50,000 pre-orders within the first 27 minutes of its release on the Chinese mainland.
During a dynamic two-hour event, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun unveiled the SU7's sleek, futuristic design and spacious interior, highlighting the latest technological advancements. The SU7 seamlessly integrates with Xiaomi’s ecosystem, offering voice-controlled functionalities and personalized in-car entertainment tailored to individual preferences. Imagine managing your smart home features or enjoying a custom playlist on the go—all through simple voice commands or a touch interface.
Lei Jun, addressing a room filled with industry leaders from top Chinese EV makers like Nio and Xpeng, revealed the pricing strategy for the SU7. The standard model is set at 215,900 yuan ($29,872), while the Pro and Max versions are priced at 245,900 yuan and 299,900 yuan respectively. \"It's 30,000 yuan cheaper than the Model 3,\" Lei pointed out, emphasizing the SU7's value proposition.
Comparing the SU7 to competitors, Lei highlighted that the SU7 boasts a minimum range of 700 km, surpassing the Tesla Model 3's 567 km. He also noted that the SU7's capabilities draw comparisons with luxury models like Porsche's Taycan and Panamera, yet at a more accessible price point.
With the SU7 now available for pre-order, Xiaomi is set to revolutionize the EV market by offering a connected, efficient, and stylish alternative for consumers. Deliveries for the Standard and Max models will commence in late April, followed by the Pro models by the end of May.
