In a significant move towards modernizing Uzbekistan's energy infrastructure, China Energy Construction Group has officially broken ground on the Uzbekistan Angren District Rochi Energy Storage Project. This landmark initiative marks China's largest single-unit overseas investment in electrochemical energy storage.
The expansive facility covers approximately 6 hectares and is set to become the first of its kind in Uzbekistan. Utilizing advanced lithium iron phosphate batteries, the project boasts a robust 150-megawatt power configuration paired with a 300-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system.
Scheduled to commence commercial operations in December 2024, the power station is projected to inject an impressive 2.19 billion kilowatt-hours of regulation capacity into the national grid. This substantial boost is expected to significantly enhance Uzbekistan's power stability, fostering economic growth and supporting social development across the region.
The Uzbekistan Angren District Rochi Energy Storage Project exemplifies the growing collaboration between China and Uzbekistan in the realm of sustainable energy solutions, paving the way for future advancements in the country's energy sector.
