China Installs Haiji-2: Asia’s Tallest Deepwater Jacket Sets New Standards

In a remarkable feat of engineering, China has successfully installed the Haiji-2 deepwater jacket in the Pearl River Mouth Basin, setting unprecedented benchmarks across Asia. Completed in just 16 hours of operation, the Haiji-2 stands at an impressive 338.5 meters tall and weighs a staggering 37,000 tonnes.

This milestone surpasses all previous Asian standards for deepwater jackets, excelling in height, weight, operational depth, and construction speed. The Haiji-2 serves as a foundational structure for offshore oil and gas rigs, anchoring them securely to the seabed and ensuring stability in challenging deepwater environments.

Shu Wei, a project manager at the Liuhua oilfield with Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd., highlighted the significance of the installation: \"China's largest crane vessel for offshore oil and gas engineering, the Lanjing 7500, was instrumental in righting the jacket, showcasing our advanced engineering capabilities.\"

The deployment of Haiji-2 not only reinforces China's position in the offshore engineering sector but also paves the way for future innovations in deepwater exploration and sustainable energy solutions.
