As of the end of February, China's largest wireless carriers—China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, and China Broadnet—boast a combined total of 1.746 billion mobile phone users. The surge in 5G usage has contributed to a remarkable increase in mobile internet traffic, which reached 48.76 billion gigabytes over the past 12 months. This represents a 16.6 percent year-on-year growth, reflecting the growing reliance on mobile data for both personal and professional use.
The communication industry in China has demonstrated stability in the first two months of the year, maintaining double-digit growth in the total volume of telecommunications business. Financially, China's three main telecommunications enterprises have reported a cumulative business income of 292.3 billion yuan (approximately $40.5 billion) in January and February, marking a 4.3 percent increase. Additionally, emerging businesses in cloud computing and big data have seen their revenue reach 75.76 billion yuan, accounting for 25.9 percent of the total revenue and representing an 11.3 percent year-on-year growth.
