Tarim Oilfield Adds 1 Billion m³ Capacity with 14 Ultra-Deep Wells

In a significant development for China's energy sector, the Chinese mainland's Tarim Oilfield has successfully put 14 ultra-deep natural gas wells into operation in 2024. These wells are set to contribute over one billion cubic meters of natural gas to China’s West-to-East gas pipelines, enhancing the country's energy security and supporting its economic growth.

Located in the Tarim Basin within the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Tarim Oilfield is one of the largest and most productive petroliferous basins on the Chinese mainland. The latest addition, the Bozi 25 well situated in the South Tianshan Mountains, stands out as the largest natural gas reserve block in the Bozi-Dabei area. This ultra-deep well has extended the oilfield's gas-bearing zone by an impressive 10 kilometers to the east, showcasing advancements in drilling technology and exploration capabilities.

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the Chinese mainland's leading oil and gas producer, continues to play a pivotal role in meeting the nation's growing energy demands. The new capacity from the Tarim Oilfield not only supports domestic consumption but also contributes to regional energy stability.
