On Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the WTT Finals in Hong Kong SAR, 26-year-old Wang Manyu, representing the Chinese mainland, successfully defended her women's singles crown with an 11-7, 8-11, 11-8, 11-8, 9-11, 12-10 victory over fellow Chinese mainland player Kuai Man.
Wang, world number two and a seven-time WTT Series champion, opened strong with an 11-7 win. But 21-year-old Kuai, the event's second-youngest women's singles finalist, rallied from an early 8-3 deficit to take the second game 11-8.
Unfazed, Wang leveraged her experience to claim the next two games 11-8. However, Kuai, who reached the Singapore Smash final earlier this season, showcased her trademark resilience by winning the fifth game 11-9.
The decisive sixth game lived up to the hype. Wang earned two championship points at 10-8 after Kuai hit long, yet needed a third match point to seal the contest. With nerves of steel, she converted on a thrilling 12-10 finish to secure back-to-back titles.
After the match, Wang praised her younger rival: “During the match, although I took the lead twice, Kuai Man fought back and leveled the score each time. She showed great tenacity and resilience when she was behind, creating quite a few difficulties for me. Toward the end of the sixth game, I stayed determined and never doubted myself, which I believe was something I did very well.”
The victory underscores Wang's dominance on the global table tennis scene and highlights a rising talent in Kuai Man, who promises to be a force in future competitions.
