China’s Guo Pu Wins First World Breaking Championship Title

On Saturday, December 13, 2025, the city of Fukuoka came alive as 17-year-old Guo Pu – known on stage as B-Girl Royal – claimed China's first-ever gold at the WDSF World Breaking Championships. As the lone Chinese female breaker in the competition, she navigated a field dominated by five Japanese entrants to become the country's new champion.

Guo opened with a second-place finish in the preliminaries before turning up the heat in the knockout rounds. In the quarterfinals, she edged out Japan's B-Girl Ayane 2-1, then swept past B-Girl Hiyo 3-0 in the semifinals. Each victory showcased her blend of explosive power moves and intricate footwork, earning her a spot in the gold-medal battle.

The final was a study in generational contrast: 17-year-old Guo versus 42-year-old B-Girl Ayumi Fukushima from Japan. Undaunted by her opponent's experience, B-Girl Royal delivered a flawless set, dictating the choreography and capturing the judges' favor to clinch the title. Lithuania's Dominika Banevic (B-Girl Nicka) rounded out the podium with bronze.

This victory marks a seismic shift for Team China, whose best results at past World Championships were silver medals by Liu Qingyi (B-Girl 671) in 2022 and 2024. Guo's triumph not only elevates China's breaking pedigree but also signals the rise of a new generation ready to redefine global dance culture.

From underground cyphers to centerstage arenas, breaking has transcended borders – and with champions like Guo Pu, the art form's future looks more dynamic and diverse than ever. Her historic win inspires aspiring breakers around the world to push boundaries and bring their own stories to the dance floor.
