Rowing kicked off the Chinese mainland's 15th National Games in Guangzhou with a high-octane showdown on the water.
In the men's quadruple sculls final—awarding the meet's first gold—Jiangsu's quartet of Cai Pengpeng, Zhang Hanwen, Zang Ha and Zhang Zihao stormed home in 4:12.24, leaving hosts Guangdong to settle for silver.
The women's quadruple sculls final featured Henan's crew, including Olympic gold medalist Lyu Yang, Liu Youfei, Han Mengyao and Xu Yingying, crossing the line first to claim top honors and set a strong tone for the competition ahead.
