Lando Norris delivered a masterclass performance at the Mexico City Grand Prix, crossing the line a whopping 30.324 seconds ahead of his closest rival and reclaiming the drivers’ championship lead for the first time in six months.
Starting from pole, the 25-year-old Briton powered his McLaren to a flawless victory—his sixth of the 2024 season and the 10th of his career. With four races to go, Norris sits on 357 points, edging out McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri by a single point and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who holds third on 321.
“A beautiful win to celebrate here in this stadium in Mexico,” Norris said, reflecting on his commanding drive. “I just stayed relaxed, kept my head down, and focused on each lap.”
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc secured second place, chalking up his seventh podium of the year. “I’m very happy with the weekend,” Leclerc noted. “We didn’t know what to expect here, so to get on the podium is a nice surprise.”
Verstappen, who had won three of the previous four races, battled early chaos to finish third. “It was very hectic at the start and I almost crashed out,” he admitted. “Fighting back for P2 was a strong result today.”
Rising stars also made their mark: Haas rookie Oliver Bearman recorded a career-best fourth, while fellow debutant Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli grabbed sixth. George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Esteban Ocon and Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto rounded out the top 10.
With momentum on his side and a tight points battle unfolding, Norris’s Mexico City triumph sets the stage for a thrilling sprint to the F1 title. Will he maintain his form across the final four races? Fans around the world are on the edge of their seats.
